So the rumor going around that next year all of the contractors will be gone. I mentioned that I'm still a contractor, and the person said I'd be converted. The guy also said that when they convert you, you take a pay cut.
So, I'll either end up chiselled on pay, or out a job. Happy f***ing holidays. Thank the gods I have some reserves.
Another contractor is out on bereavement leave. Now it's a good question whether she'll have a job when she comes back. Not only that, I doubt her manager has the balls to call her and tell her if it looks like her job is ending.

Not a shock
Manager won't call, that's for certain. It's not a call anyone would want to make.

It's perhaps a 50/50 chance that I'm going to have a job, come 1 March.
Here's hoping that you keep your job, one way or the other, and that you don't get a pay cut.

Lots of merchants keep saying how this year people seem to now be buying for Christmas. They just don't get it. I see a lot of folk buying stuff that is pretty basic and in the Dollar Stores and Wally World a whole lot more than in the more expensive places and the gifts I see are not frivolous stuff either ---lots of sweaters, sweatshirts, food items ---- stuff that is useful if one is risking being without for a while. I've heard lots of comments like "we are going to make this a good Christmas for our family because next year we may not have as much money for gifts." "I (my husband) may not be working much longer, so I am stocking up now." There were also lots who said today "I got a little bonus so now we can have some Christmas." They seem to be doing most of their shopping now instead of having done it earlier.
I hope you get to keep your job and that the pay cut is not too much. Maybe it will include benefits instead. I'll keep everything crossed and send lots of prayers skyward and good thoughts into the universe for you. Love 'ya and wish you were here. Hard to get at Inc. is about to do the wrapping thing. LOL. Don't expect any gifts will get delivered until January though. My sinus infection is going slowly away, but I am still tired out. Keep your tools, Sweetie. There's bound to be someone who needs their spark-plugs changed! That's what Grandpa Horace used to tell us.
