Our Comcast cable internet connection has been down for the past two days. Turns out that they stopped Ds automatic billing, and didn't bother to tell him until he was over $150 behind. "They're upgrading their system, it's your responsibility to pay the bill" crap spews out of them.

This is a BIG problem. As in it affects my job. I have to be able to VPN in to the office day or night, and on weekends. It's bad enough that work requires me to use a stupid ass Windows box to do it with (their email, terminal server, and trouble ticket system are Windows only, despite the fact that our product runs on Linux), but now I can't do that.

So I can't get my personal email, and my boss is ticked off to boot. I can't get DSL, because I'm not close enough to the central office to get much more than dial up speeds. Even if I could go with DSL, it would take 3 months to get it installed, and if Comcast finds out, they'll cancel us for 'disloyalty'.

I was about to switch to DSL, when I was downsized from the geekjob into the helljob.

My opinion of Comtrash is about as favorable as yours. I still remember them from the shit-ass job they did as my cable provider in Michigan. I wasn't at all happy about hearing they were about to become my cable and broadband provider in Oregon.

Once I've the cash available (yeah, maybe I should've waited to buy the Glock. Bite me.), I'm switching. The way Comtrash is upping their rates, it shouldn't be much more expensive anyhow.

Hadn't heard Comtrash was canceling people for 'disloyalty', but it doesn't surprise me at all. They're like that, they are....
