I cannot see how I could be friends with someone who is interested in removing basic civil rights from a portion of the population that they happen not to like. A similar thing happened in Europe in the 30's and 40's. I don't see it as hypocrisy so much as self-protection.

And really, if any of you feel like you fit that category, please, bail the fuck out now. I'm not in anyway OK with having friends who think that denying people basic human civil rights is ever justified.

Agreed. If you voted for Prop 8, or any of its cousins, to ban gay marriage (or to "define" "marriage" as only between a man and a woman), you can take yourself the fuck off of my friends list.

I am not friends with people who vote to deny rights to other people based on something they can't change, and vote to enshrine bigotry, discrimination and hate in a constitution. While I won't come and troll in your journals, you are not welcome in mine.

Something that might give you a giggle. My mom and dad were at lunch after voting when they heard this little old lady going on from the next table how she was didn't want those gay's to to marry so she voted No on 8.

Dad didn't have the heart to correct her.

I'm really sorry to hear that Prop 8 passed. My own opinion (on the off chance that you dodn't know) is that folks is folks. If you want to get married, it's not my place - or anyone else's - to say "no you can't". People just need to get over themselves and not think that they have the right to dictate how the rest of us choose to live.

At least you know that Ican stay on your friends list. Here it was amendment 2 that defned marriage as between one man and one woman.I voted no on two counts --- I see no reason to deny same sex marriages and a definition of marriage does not belong in the state constitution in the first place. Such things belong in statutary law and not in the constitution,state or federal.
