"Fell into"??? How does a baby of "unknown origins" fall into someone's care? Seriously, I make sure the kid was safe, then call 911 to report an abandoned newborn. I'd also be really pissed at the parents for not using the "newborn surrender" thing at the local hospital. If they drop the kid there, it's not a crime. If they dump it elsewhere, it is.

A really dumb writer's block, IMO.

A really dumb writer's block, IMO.

They've been getting dumber by the moment, if you ask me. "Describe your favorite sandwich, layer by layer"? And, of course, the closed questions like "Pirate or Ninjas," which just so inspire one to write ...

The only way I can see this being in any way/shap/form a valid writer's block question is to postulate that the world one lives in has become somewhat post-apocalyptic and nomadic thus causing the parameters of the posed question to be probable. Taken from that perspective, one could form several scenarios to work out. If, however, the parameters 'lock' one into the current society, there would be legal obstacles to be dealt with, such as DCS and other agencies.

Oh yes, isn't that a scenario that's just begging for "take me into custody..."

"And where did you get this child, Mr/Ms. X?" "Um, I found him in a cardboard box on my doorstep..." "And you didn't think to report this to the police? What if this was a child desperately in need of medical care?" "Well, um, I thought it seemed healthy." "And how do we even know that's what happened? You might have kidnapped this child from its rightful parents..."
