Bay Area "Native" test, swiped from [livejournal.com profile] fiona64:

Your Score: True Bay Area Native

You scored 17!

16-18 correct (out of 18) - You're a true Bay Area native - and you even got some of the EXTRA CREDIT questions! Impressive. Feel free to look down on Los Angeles with pride. (You probably already do.)

I'm not a native, but I scored 14- mostly because I was stationed there in the early 80s. And I remember KFRC's Don Rose and "Sacratomato".

me too, my guess is that the one I missed is the 'how to cross the GG bridge at rush hour one' because I never do that.

or the freeway name that I know but never use - that would be worth arguing over if so.

actually for 'native' test it should have questions related more to being a kid here and not as many driving ones. like who/what were Charlie and Humphrey?
If you have a school field trip to Half Moon Bay what do you do there? If you walk in the door and see an alligator pit where are you?

But Charlie and Humphrey is another Pat McCormick question! :D
Actually the usual crossing time for the GG Bridge during rush hour in the commute direction in the am is under 1 hour. Going home I've heard can be pretty rough though.
The one I could argue over is How to drive to LA. We do 101 south to 25 to 156 to 152 to 5 and straight on until we run into the smog bank. If you are going from San Jose to LA try it some time. The 25 is Hwy 25 right after 152. It goes east, runs into 156. That's the highway that everyone makes a left turn onto and causes the big 152 back ups (yeah, that stoopid highway). Any path, by doing it that way, you avoid the 152 back up. Recommended by Mr Roadshow.
And how come Mr Roadshow wasn't mentioned? Was this an SF centric quiz or what?

Yes, Pat McCormick, but people could have to say what they look like ;)

Trying to think of a Bob Sherwood/Sawmill question. What other annoying commercials were there?

More teen-ish radio questions
98.5 does what in your ear?
If you don't like the news you should do what?

I didn't like either set of directions to LA so I gave the obvious answer.

Bob Sherwood/Sawmill question

Marty Sherman, and his horse George. :-)

If you don't like the news you should do what?

Go out and make some of your own.

If you walk in the door and see an alligator pit where are you?

Is this the old Natural History museum that was in Golden Gate Park? I'm suddenly drawing a blank on the name of the place, and my ex-husband and I were *members*!

yeah the Steinhardt Aquarium at the California Academy of Sciences... then to the right was all the dioramas of old dead stuffed things, behind it was fish, and to the left the planetarium and pendulum... I miss it lots

I got 18! And probably all the extra credit too.
Not a true native, but I have been living here happily for 37 years, I suppose that counts for something. At least it means that I get all the cultural questions put in there as it was probably written by someone 37 or younger.

I last moved to the bay area 37 years ago (was 10 then) but lived here for about 4 years total previous to that so I figure while not technically native it's more than close enough (only 4th & 5th grade were not in bay area public schools (including 2 BAs)). We've both been here for longer than many natives have been alive.

Yeah, but Ravan knows that I am not a native, but originally from....

Southern California. XD

And yes, we transplants from SoCal hate it even more than NoCal natives. There is usually a reason we moved north. Good Taste!
