Similar to what other friends of mine have posted:

If you aren't happy with the tone or direction that an LJ community seems to be heading, leave. Don't post an agrieved (sp) swan song guilt trip goodbye, just leave. Bitch in your own journal, if you must. Communities change. That's reality. If you aren't the owner/moderator, and you don't like the way it's run, tough shit. There are other communities, or you could actually get off your ass and start your own - then you would be in the driver's seat, instead of playing passenger trying to hijack the bus to Cuba.

If you don't like the material posted about, the subjects discussed, or the general tone of a community, Don't Read It, Dumbass!!! Like with a TV, you control the screen. If a community turns you off, offends you, or makes you angry, don't add it to your watch/friends page, and don't click on the cuts or even links to it (if you hover your mouse over a link, it should show the address it's linked to in the bottom of your browser.)

LJ is a leisure activity, and people form communities based on common interests. You can't waltz in to a community, whine and/or rant about how bad/rotten/evil/stupid/etc it is, and *poof* remake it into your own image (unless the existing moderator cedes it to you, which is unlikely) so don't even bother to try. If you can build your own, it means that other people share your vision and interest. If not, you can either slink back to the old community, or move on with your life.

Hmmm...how to I respond to this appropriately? How do you say, "A-fucking-men!!" in Old Norse? ;-)

This so needs to be cross-posted in a number of "I'm a spesul pagan and you can't oppr3ss m333!!!1!!!!oneone!!1" communities

Cross post or link if you like, it's a public post.

The fact is, personal journals are at the whim of the owner, communities are at the whim of the moderators.

Oh, geez, tell me about it. Two recent examples I've seen:

"It's on topic because I say it is!" I don't see your email address on the Info page, bunky.

"Moderating is against pagan standards." If common courtesy isn't a pagan standard in your book, get out of my airspace.

Don't forget "You CAN'T moderate or ban anyone unless you've consulted everyone who subscribes or ever has subscribed to the comm, and allowed them to give input and opinion as to whether a moderator should act and to what extent! Anything else proves you're UnPagan™, and proves that you're not qualified to moderate a Pagan™ comm!"

Oh yeah, I LOVED that pagan standards thing.

[livejournal.com profile] ravan, you're not a mod why? ;)

Because I left [livejournal.com profile] pagan a while ago due to the general asshattery of the members. I don't even read it because they all piss me off with their fluffy, PC, hypocritical, witch-warring BS.

Sing it, sistah!

If I don't like a community, I don't read it. Unless it has a trainwreck value. Then I fully admit to reading it. :-D

Damn straight!

That's all that came to mind, I'm dead tired, lol.

Now how can we get this message sent to every Lj user? It seems a lot of people need to read this. XD
