Well, the flame fest in the idiot community has kept on. One person came right out and said "nazi" when I referred to white supremacists as an example of fanatics. The personal attacks on me have been almost amusing, but pathetic. Others say that they think it's fine for moderators to break their own rules, and that if I don't approve I should leave. Another justifies blowing up buildings for the sake of environmental causes. And, finally, a person justifying the moderator violating common courtesy and community rules said, in the same post <whine>"can't we all just get along"</whine>

What a pile of kiddie wankers. They aren't even as good as the dregs of the old alt.pagan, or soc.religion.paganism

Feh. What the real irony is that it is a community for pictures, not ranting, advocacy, or debate.

When communities devolve into this sort of shite, especially when it involves me directly, I leave. Immediately.

This is not because I cannot handle conflict, I've just simply reached the point in life where if I do so it had better have some worthwhile, tangible results. I have stayed and fought in the past but there are times when it starts to resemble teaching a pig to sing, or beating one's head against a wall. It feels so good when you stop. These days I choose my battles more wisely and prefer not to waste my time on people who just aren't worth it. You can lead the stupid to logic but you cannot always make them think.

There are so many "communities" out there that are just personality cults waiting to happen. I've learned what they look like and in general they are best avoided.

Perhaps if it's torquing you out this much, you might consider removing yourself and finding a community more in line with what you're looking for. They are out there.

Naah, I'm staying. I like the pictures! Just today they had some adorable kittens on there! Usually this community helps me get through the day, not wrecks it.

It's probably because I'm PMS that I'm grouchy about it.

Look at the pictures and ignore the rest... sounds like a plan, hee!

Based on your reports, I'm pretty sure I'd be grouchy about this, PMS or not. I'm all for pictures of kittens... can you just ignore the text?

Ah, it's [livejournal.com profile] kittypix. Sigh. Fun idea--I didn't friend it because it's too addictive. Just look at it occasionally on your friends' page.

There are so many cat-lovers on LJ, I think I would start my own, strictly pictures-only.

Rate My Kitten (http://www.ratemykitten.com/ratemy/kitten) might be a good alternative if the verbiage gets too annoying.

How the heck do people who post and admire photos of kittens get into a flame war? What's to fight about? Geez! I'm glad they aren't talking about depleted uranium heads on artillery shells!
