These last few days have really sucked for me.
As I mentioned before, I have been unemployed for over a year. Well, Friday I called to aply for another claim year on unemployment. I don't qualify!!
Needless to say, I ended up upset. They said I may still get the extensions from my previous claim. I'll believe it when I see it.
Then Saturday, I got a little freen notice that read "Notice of Determination of Invalid Claim, Section 1277" Part of it read
"(5) Your claim is invalid under Section 1277 for the reasons checked below:
(a) You were not paid nor did you earn wages of at least $1,300 as an employee in one quarter during the above period (6/10/01 to 6/8/02)"
No Duh!!!! I was UNEMPLOYED. I couldn't even get more that two or three days of temp work in any given month!!!
So I am fucked. As in gang banged by the State of California and its regulations.
Oh, there's more (out of 5 possible disqualifiers, the thing had 4 checked.) but it's all in confusing bullshit legalese, and it all seems to contradict itself. But the bottom line is not only will I not have enough money coming in to pay my bills, but I will have nothing, not even rent money.
This actually made (and still makes) me cry. I can't help it.
I haven't got any more rabbits to pull out of my hat, no more shuffles and cheapnesses to make ends meet. No money == NO MONEY!! No dollars to stretch, no miracles to perform, nada.
I can't even get a minimum wage service sector job because of my disability (hemiparesis). This means no standing on my feet, no lifting, no cash registers, no food service, nada. I can't even get a job serving coffee at starbucks, or cleaning houses. Hell, I couldn't even make it as a fucking prostitute -- nobody hires 40 year old gimps for bedroom services.
Does anyone have any ideas for clever things for me to put on a sign to beg for money with??
We are not in a recession folks, it's a depression, regardless of what the pollyana economists are saying. Wall street is still, slowly, sliding into the basement, companies keep laying off people, other companies are juggling their books so they look good to investors (and then getting caught at it).
I know a lot of people who have been out of work for more than 6 months. Heck, my previous record was 6 months, in the 80s. It will be 13 months next week.
