Nothing better than sleeping in on a rainy day, with kittens purring at your feet.

Problem is, nothing that nice lasts for long. The damn neighbors are at it again.

You see, last year about this time, I was living in Cupertino, and people there are very quiet and keep to themselves. Now I'm living in Downtown San Jose, and there is a raucous apartment complex next door.

So I was happily in yet another rain-fueled nap with my darling kittens, and the little shits next door started firing off random transform spells!! While the worst bounced off of the house wards, enough of the small critter change-a-roo stuff leaked through, and turned my sleeping, purring kittens into a pack of tiny vampire chihuahuas!! Yip, yip, yip, yip! What's worse is that the damned things stink and are not litter trained!

I managed to herd the lot of them into the bathroom without getting bit, and yelled at the little brats to "cut it out". Their response was to group fire a frog spell at my head. Stupid kids - I bounced it easily with a reflector spell, and then tagged the ones that didn't get hit by the "friendly fire" reflection with a "you little shit" spell. We'll see how their negligent parents like it when their little darlings have explosive diarrhea every time they cast involuntary transforms.

Having dealt with the neighbor kids, I then began the recovery spell for my kittens. Yes, I could've zapped 'em back into a semblance of their original form, but transform on top of transform can warp a cat's purrsonality, and I didn't want to deal with that or accidental reversions.

So now I'm worn out again, but my kittens are back to their original selves, and my house wards have been patched and reinforced yet again. Those little shits will learn not to throw garbage like that around here.

Through the day, at least. I finally got coffee - had to fetch it myself! After I caffeinated, the network ports on the ceiling were solved fairly easily - a simple 180 locus chant, *after* the table had been moved. Moving the table was actually the hard part - it had a resist relocation spell on it that I had to defuse, probably put there by the movers so we'd have to pay them to come fix it. Screw that - I'm not paid as a systems shaman for nothing, you know.

Word has it that we have some visitors from the Seattle office flying in this afternoon. Bad news, since it's a little overcast and drizzly. They won't be real thrilled when they land on the balcony all wet. Of course, if they weren't so cheap they would charter a two mage flight, and be kept dry as they flew. Although, they may fly in on a technical, and just get a cab from the airport. (They shouldn't rent a car - the rental car companies are all putting speed limit enforcing spells on their cars, and that can get you run over, or carjacked as an "out of town"er.) Then again, this is the company that started out with doors and sawhorses for desks, with a glamour on the ones visible to the public so that people would think they were good furniture.

I still am having fits with the new telephone system that we're putting in. A basic service that it depends on is not working right, and it should. I'm wondering if someone cast an incompatible firewall spell in the network, and is just too bashful to admit it to me. Either that or the test software has an expiry spell coded in to it. Either way, I hate having to admit to my boss that I'm having trouble with a project. The hit to my self confidence hurts in the spellwork side of my job, which is probably why my office fetch is still just sitting there and playing with itself - a not so subtle comment on my competance.

Ever have one of those days when you feel like looking out the window of your office and hurling shit-stirring spells at passing cars?

I woke up this morning expecting a nice, calm Friday. No dice. First, even though I got up at 7am, the household time warp delayed our departure until after 8 am. Some of this was also due to the house gremlins hiding my lunch bag.

Now the plan was to drop off [livejournal.com profile] datapard at work, and then proceed to the train station. Unfortunately, I was too late to catch the 8 am series of trains. So I drove.

Now, I have a ordinary car, you know, 4 wheels on the ground, internal combustion engine, all that. What can I say, I got it used. I don't stunt it. Needless to say, I got really ticked when this fancy assed magemobile started leapfrogging me, and making me have to slam on my brakes. He'd leapfrog, then move over to the next lane which promptly slow down, then he'd get behind me and do the leapfrog thing again. I finally laid a sticky mud attraction on his pristine clean caddy, and he was very busy trying to remove is before he hit too many puddles. Accident averted, but I was casting without coffee.

I got to work, and one system mishap after the other has kept me from my coffee. This includes not having the umph to send my office fetch to get my damned coffee. The thing just sits there and plays with itself, and any other random thing in my office.

Shit. Now my boss is complaining about the table rearrangement in the conference room. It seems the damn movers put the network ports on the damn ceiling again. I either need a lot of coffee, or a ladder.
