Well, I was right. They were setting me up to be fired. The smoke test sandbag was what did it? I complained about it, the QA idiots started double teaming me, I told one guy to mind his own business, he refused, I told him to fuck off.
I knew they were going to try this kind of crap when they hired *two* younger male sysadmins, permanent, to "help" me. I figured they'd wait until it was all delivered, but I guess they thought code freeze was good enough. They don't want contractors, especially ones who are expensive, unwilling to take a massive pay cut to go permanent (like 30%), and unwilling to do stupid things just because some manager feels that it would be nice.
I'm relieved. No more micromanaging, no more technical stupidity, no more whiny arrogant pricks. I have a couple months worth of savings, and I've already got feelers out. Hell, I'm surprised I lasted this long.

And one of those two you are reckoning may not last long himself?
May you find something better within the week.

I sympathize with your relief in not having to deal with nitwits anymore. Hope you find something else soon!

Here's hoping you find something better soon.
I could, of course, send you URLs for job hunting sites in Oregon, if you wanted. ;)
