So, Datapard's rear tooth wouldn't wait until the new year, when I have my next round of Flex spending available. $2700 later, on CareCredit, and I'm stuck for $225/mo for a year.
The worst of it is that dental work is sometimes more expensive than doctors' office visits, but is usually covered at a much, much lower rate. Everyone think "Oh, problems with your teeth won't kill you, so it's a luxury."
Thing is, they can, and often do, they're just put down as something else.
Just pulling a tooth costs $250 or more. But tooth infections can lead to gum, jaw and brain infections, systemic poisoning/infection, and death. Not to mention it's damn hard to be "healthy" if you can't eat without pain, or can only eat soft crap with a straw.
Datapard needs a root canal, which will be another $1000, before she gets the crown put on. But the tooth is one of the main anchors for her lower partial, so it's kinda important.
