They say that the difference
Between Humans and Animals
Is that Humans usually care about
The deaths of others, even far away
Yet we can kill for pleasure
Or abstract gain
Some do it by unwitting proxy
Without regard for their targets, or tools
War is fought by the young,
But sought by the old
Grown distant from the pleasure of life
So they care not for others, only themselves
So it has been for many lifetimes
Do I hear echos now,
Of warriors from generations past, crying
"No, not again, not for a king's foolish pride"?
