The fundamentalist lap-dogs in the Bush administration are at it again!

See this kick ass rant by [livejournal.com profile] naamah_darling for a better explosion of rage about this shit than I can come up with today.

I have a 12 year old niece, just hitting puberty. Her parents are religious reich dittoheads. If she gets raped or what not, or wants birth control, or needs an abortion, I will do anything necessary to see that she has the choice. My niece's life and health are more important than her parents fucked up religion.

Thanks for posting this. The rant was particularly good. And well researched. Amazing how fundies think that something's wrong, unless it applies to them.

The neocon Funny Mental X-stains currently in power DO NOT represent genuine conservatives like me. Not in any fashion.

For my part, I wish to remark in passing that, in Japan, where abortion has never been illegal nor subject to social censure, the incidence of "Sudden Infant Death Syndrome" is very close to zero.

Spelling it out:

In a nation where women are almost never compelled to bear children they never wanted, it is extremely rare for a death certificate to indicate that "the baby stopped breathing, and the mother is clearly too distraught to consent to an autopsy", which is what SIDS means here.

I was an abused child, and I regard unlimited birth control on demand as a legitimate use of public funds. It prevents child abuse.

Exactly. In the long run, it saves the public money in terms of child support, medical care, and law enforcement needed to deal with the associated problems of being an unwanted person.

Children deserve to be wanted.
