http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/4815912.stm - "US evangelicals warn Republicans"

"Support from about a quarter of Americans who describe themselves as evangelicals was a factor in President George W Bush's two election victories."

The "quarter" is an overstatement, for one. For another, we have a narrow, repressive, religious group trying to dictate the behavior and "morals" for an entire secular country, most of whom do not share their puritanical, calvinistic views. They want, essentially, a theocracy, and will brook no argument, rational or otherwise, against it. They claim to be "persecuted", but their agenda persecutes any and all who don't share their narrow viewpoint.

What's worse? The fucking Republicans are listening to these jerks, and doing their dirty work.

When will the majority get fed up with this crap, and curb their political influence? Do people even care about their first ammendment rights, or do they just want to watch "reality" TV and swill berr?

Don't get me wrong, evangelical Christianity has it's place: in the churches and individual lives of those who adhere to that creed.

But keep it the fuck out of government, and the lives of those who don't want to share that particular flavor of kool-aid.
