So, I went for my pre-op last tuesday, and gave the damned hospital my insurance info then. Today I went and had my blood drawn.
So some b!tch at the hospital calls my home number this after noon, and leaves a message. I call back, and she tells me, in a rather accusatory tone, the "there's a $1000 deductible that hasn't been satisfied yet." I say "what? it should be in-network". She says "no, you have a $1000 deductible that hasn't been satisfied." I tell her I'll call back.
After much hair pulling and teeth gnashing, I find that, yes, the hospital is NOT in the network. Shit, shit, shit. Why they couldn't have fucking bothered to tell me this last week, when I first went there, I don't know. Fuckers. Thing is, it's not just $1000 deductible, but out of network only covers 80% after that.
So I call my doctor's office. After spending 15 minutes finding my chart, they say "oh, the gal who schedules surgery is out, but we'll try to set you up in another hospital, at least on the same day. We'll call you early tomorrow morning."
Why bother planning anything, when some clueless git administrative type is just going to fuck it up with apathy and neglect??
Yes, I'm mad enough to chew nails and spit tacks.
