This has been a very busy week, but I'm *still* unemployed...
1) I upgraded from (debian) potato to woody on Monday evening, starting about 9 pm. This was foolish. It took hours. I finally got to sleep at 06:00 Tuesday.
2) I got up Tuesday at 8:00 am, drove my roomie to work, and noticed that my battery charge indicator was low, and staying lower each time I turned off the engine. Bad. So I went to Sears Auto, at about 9:30, because that is where I got my battery, *in April*. They said they'd diagnose the prob, and replace the battery if it was bad. Fine. They ran the tests, and replaced the battery. The tests recommended that the alternator be replaced. Arggh! This was also new in April, but it was a DIY - and I had no warranty paperwork. So I had them do the work. The had to order in the part, and then it would take about an hour, so I went to lunch with my roomie - at 11:30. When I got back, my car was just sitting up on the lift - no one working on it. This went on for an hour. Finally, the sales guy said "Your serpentine belt is really worn, and should be replaced". Ugh. Why was this not found in the initial inspection and diagnostic? So, I tell them to add that. They have to order in the part. The rest of the repair takes another hour. Then the computer won't let them generate my invoice, because on of the two items that was ordered wasn't *received* into their system. It takes a half hour or so to solve that. I left at 16:00, nearly $400 poorer, and a little torqued at the mechanic who made the process into an iterative waste of time, instead of finding all the problems up from, ordering the parts in a group, and installing them in the same session.
3) Class was Tuesday evening at 18:00, and I had only 2 hours sleep. I was not happy. We got the results of our test (last Thurs) back - I got 21/25, my roomie got 14/25. The average was around 19/25. The roomie was not happy.
4) Got home Tues after class about 21:00, after a stop at the grocery store for some "essentials". Ate dinner, told roomie that she was driving herself to work Wednesday, then crashed and burned.
5) Finally got up and stayed up (not just potty breaks) at about 14:00 Wednesday. Went out and ran errands 'till 17:00. Cruised Craigslist for jobs - found next to nothing, and the only thing I was mostly qualified for was a junior NT/Web admin. Arrrgh!
6) I started playing with the Gutenbook reader Wednesday evening. I found a way to make it crash without even trying. Farted around figuring out why, and if I could fix it (I couldn't, really), and then filed a bug. Bleah.
7) Thursday morning I have to drive my roomie to work, then have the answering machine off from 10:00 to 12:00 so I can explain to the EDD (again) that the class I have is an evening class. Nevermind that I a) explained it when trying to file for this year, and b) sent a note with my form. Argggh! I have class tonight (18:00), plus picking up my roomie from work on my way to class.
It is now 02:30 on Thursday. What am I doing? Updating my LJ - I'm wide awake.
