I expanded and customized the drip watering system in from this afternoon. Instead of one long hose that didn't even get most of the pots, I now have two seperate branches, with micro feeders to water the potted herbs. About 3 to 4 hours of work, solo, while my roomies went to Costco.

[livejournal.com profile] datapard went out back and picked a couple strawberries for me, too, before heading out.

We still have to pot some basil that has been growing inside and is overdue to be potted. The other basil plant that we thought was going to die because of something munching on it is actually flowering and growing out onto the sidewalk. I think it would be hilarious if it went to seed and we had basil as weeds growing in our front yard. Weeds are all the "lawn" we have anyway - the grass died out before we moved in.

Yay!

I hope it was actually more than a couple of strawberries.

Underneath the self-deprecating tone, it's beginning to sound like a really nice yard. I still regret you didn't mail me any ivy--where it would have gone is mainly plantains and chickweed, with a fringe of grass around the outside--but I could always mail you some tenacious and long-in-the-tooth grass. I think it would require too much water for your part of the world, though.

Isa's flowers have been doing really well, almost without exception. We're into a protracted dry spell now, but up until last week one could virtually see the grass growing. So I've been kept busy mowing.
