My roomie's spiffy new All-in-Wonder Radeon 7500 didn't want to work in her new system - X wouldn't start - until we a) went from Debian stable to testing, and b) compiled it a new kernel, 2.4.26!! This, and a lot of happy napping, was my Saturday.
Today, we went out, got a few groceries, more parts to build our drip watering system, and supports for
datapard's tomato plants. $$. I get to redo the kernel to further tweak the options this evening, or maybe next weekend.
I still have some hardware twidling to do on my own boxling: a new cdrw/dvd/memory card reader, and another 256Mb of memory. Then I need to install Debian on it, plus mount my new 160 Gb drive in its USB 2.0 enclosure. My new boxling also gets its own custom kernel, but that may have to wait.
