Shattered Citadel is a universe developed by a guy I game with.

Starting in the near future, the story arc posits a WW3, The Great Human Civil War, from 2025-2077. Then, after that war ends, mankind fresh from it and the Succession Wars must confront a new alien threat.

There are both short and medium length stories, videos, and even fan fiction.

I'm a big fan of Ringo and Weber, though the former's distaste of Progressives can be annoying at times. However, it's often spot on. I've lived in both the Bay Area and the DC metro and some of his Stereotypical characters Ive either met or seen on low-cal TV;>....

Yes, Weber can be annoying, that way. I do still like his fiction, though. I've met examples of his stereotypes, occasionally, especially when I lived in Eugene. That said, I do think he massively over-stereotypes. Then again, it's pot-boiler SF. It's tasty and delicious, but one shouldn't expect overly much of it.

Besides, I've had to listen to the Opposite Sterotyping of Military and Policefolk by the "Granola Than Thou" crowd for most of my life and considering most of my boyfriends over the last 30 yrs were either(or both in the case of 2 MPs) it made potlucks at the time Interestingly awkward;>...

Yeah, I can imagine the stereotyping you've heard on the other end. I used to work at a state-level copshop, as support staff, so I've my own perspective on LEOs that I won't bother to bore folks with here.

And yes, the potato chips comment is particularly apt, even though I happen to despise potato chips. (I'll substitute corn ships — that was supposed to be corn chips, but I like it so I'll let it stay — and we can both be happy. *g.*)

Ringo is worse about beating you over the head with his politics than Weber is, although they do skewer some funny stereotypes and caricatures.

Still, it's par for the course with hard military SF. Weber at least sometimes skewers the superhawks too.

The Other Side sadly is as bad. If it's American, Caucasian, has a Penis and a Position, it's probably up to no good;>....
