How to format a resume...
... let me count the ways: txt, html, pdf, ps, rtf, doc, sxw. Seven, and I don't have wordperfect in there.
But I got it done.

The trick I'm running into is deciding which format to send when they don't specify..

I've been told by HR people that unless told otherwise, electronic resumes are to use flat ASCII. Special formating is a way to assure it isn't read. (Sorry to break it to you.)

These formats are available for download, or if they request a specific format. Unspecified requests get txt (ASCII text).
If I had my way, I would only do it in two formats: txt for emailing, and html for viewing on the web.

I haven't been looking in a while, but I used to use text for email, and keep the fancy formatting for the paper copy.

Hmmm...
I recognise all those extensions except the last. What's an .sxw file?

.sxw == star office/open office
It's a geeky showoff... ;-)

Ah! I've never used either of those, though I will probably use Open Office when I switch to Linux.
Good luck with your job-search. There has to be a better company out there that won't abuse you like the last one did!
