Hist-ory!

So, I have a large uterine fibroid, and an ovarian cyst. It's made my last few periods *worse* than usual. Two weeks ago I was cramping and flooding for two days straight.

I had my consult today about what to do about it. There are partial measures that might solve the problem, but it could re-occur. So I'm having a historectomy by laparoscope on Nov 16, and the pre-op is Nov 8. The bad thing is that the doc insists that it will be 6 weeks before I can return to work. Merry Christmas to me!

The best thing? Even though the clinic also did fertility and stuff, No Bingo! Zero, zilch, zip.

I hope to have my tampon burning party in December... ;-)

No, they can just try to take out the fibroid, but I'd just grow another one. Endometrial ablation only addresses the bleeding, but leaves the fibroid. So the options were a) do nothing, b) endometrial ablation, c) try to take out the fibroid, and d) historectomy. I picked the most likely to work and be permanent: historectomy.
