The Car, Again

Monday: Roomies S and D were taking my car to do errands and shopping for items that needed large carry space, so I let S use my car. Because they were doing a lot of slow, in town driving on a hot day, it overheated! Apparently the water pumpo had been limping for a while, but since I drive mostly on the freeways at high speeds, it never really overheated.

Tuesday: Took the $%%^^$#$ car to the shop, since D looked at it and it had too many newfangled parts in the way for him to easily get to the water pump. I got the estimate in the afternoon: ~$750 for water pump, thermostat, cooling system flush (the water pump had been eating itself), and water pressure reservior with pressure cap (yes, one of those closed, pressurized systems.) Sigh, I'm glad I'm working.

Wednesday: Checked on whether I could pick it up. Nope, not finished. Plus, the fan shroud was apparently original, and came off in pieces. Another $50, has to be ordered from the dealer.

My car is a jealous beast. I bought a cheap little computer for myself, so now it wants parts. I will have to put off getting a laptop 'till August, I think.

If I could still do the work myself, I would have waited for the weekend, bought the parts, and saved about $500.

Awww Geeee! That sucks, Ravan. You have my sympathies. I long for the day when we can both get vehicles that don't break down at the least opportune moment. Waterpumps are a bear to replace. They are not like drive shafts, LOL. Think kind thoughts of the "General Nuisance" and know that you are loved. Lots of hugs from me to you. (Do you know how to fix a down driver side window? LOLOL Love ya!)
